What Size Boxing Gloves Should I Get Reddit
What size gloves should i be using? : amateur_boxing
I generally recommend wearing the lightest gloves 8oz or higher that you can wear without hurting your hands, which will depend on your hands and what gloves you use. (I personally wear 10oz rivals). The lighter the glove the more you can feel the imperfections in your technique, and it is nice to get used to fighting with gloves close to/the same weight as the gloves you train in. Just get 16 ounces. You'll get better faster and your hands will be much more well protected. Some people might tell you start with something lighter and then get up to 16 later... really that's just delaying your progress and setting you up to be complacent with lighter gloves. Get the 16's and don't look back! Push it. More Information

i guess it will depend on your (current) weight, most gyms would recommend 16oz, but if you're on the lighter side, like < 150, some gyms would be ok with you going with 14oz. But if you would go serious and have budget, you'll get sparring gloves at 16oz, and another for mitts/ bagwork which will be 12/14 oz. 2. More Information

I'd recommend 10 oz or 12 oz actual bag gloves (smaller, much harder and will last much longer than sparring gloves) for bag work and hitting the pads and 16 oz or heavier for sparring. Sparring is not “fighting”. In order to work fairly hard you must wear heavier and softer gloves to protect your sparring partners. More Information
